The 18th Institution Information Workshop was held during the meeting of the Council of Communication Deans in the province. YÖKAK (Higher Education Quality Board) President, Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak, who attended the 31st Council of Communication Deans of Provinces held at Tunceli Munzur University, delivered a presentation on "Quality Assurance Systems and Accreditation."

The Institution Information Workshop (ILAD 18) was organized by ILAD President Prof. Dr. Aysel Aziz and ILAD Board Member Prof. Dr. Nalan Büker during the 31st Council of Communication Faculty Deans, which took place at Munzur University from October 19th to 21st, 2023. YÖKAK President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak also participated in the meeting held in Tunceli and delivered a presentation on "Quality Assurance Systems and Accreditation" to communication faculty deans, the academic and administrative staff of Munzur University, and students.

During the presentation, Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak discussed the future goals of YÖKAK, mentioning that there are currently 53 universities with Institutional Accreditation and that efforts are being made to include all universities in the Institutional Accreditation Program by 2027, with the number of program accreditations standing at 1407.

Emphasizing the significance of increasing this number for the Turkish higher education system, Prof. Dr. Kocabıçak also provided information about graduation certificates bearing the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TQF) logo. He summarized the efforts of YÖKAK to become an international accreditation body by 2025, stating that these efforts would significantly contribute to making our quality culture in higher education visible, especially in Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and our cultural geography worldwide.

President Kocabıçak pointed out that universities with Institutional Accreditation, a result of YÖKAK's quality assurance efforts, are now listed in the databases of international umbrella organizations. He mentioned that this development would significantly increase the visibility of diplomas on an international scale.

Providing insights into regional training meetings for universities and assessor training programs, Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak detailed the contributions of YÖKAK in the digital transformation processes of quality assurance systems for both YÖKAK and universities.

During the second day of the workshop, at the ILAD 18th Institution Information Workshop, ILAD President Prof. Dr. Aysel Aziz informed the attending deans and faculty representatives about ILAD's accreditation efforts. ILAD Board Member Prof. Dr. Nalan Büker also provided information to participants about the comprehensive Self-Assessment Report prepared by communication programs after applying to ILAD and what is expected from this report.

At the workshop's conclusion, Participation Certificates were presented by Prof. Dr. Aysel Aziz to the 27 deans and institution representatives who participated.



Higher Education Quality Council Turkey (YÖKAK) authorized ILAD Communication Research Association to accredit higher education programs in the field of communication.
