Speaking at the 32nd ILDEK Faculty of Communication Deans Council Meeting, YÖKAK President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak provided the following information regarding the accreditation of universities:
According to YÖK, as of 2024, there are 208 universities.
The total number of students is 7 million 438 thousand (3 million of which are in open education).
The number of academic staff is 182,740, including:
Kocabıçak emphasized that the student-to-faculty ratio meets the standards of developed countries, but the distribution within the country shows inequalities.
How Many Types of Programs Exist?
There are 441 types of programs across 208 universities. The total number of programs is 8504.
Among these, the number of accredited programs is 1491.
The number of program types that agencies can accredit is 181.
Accredited programs exist in 131 universities, while 77 universities have no accredited programs.
In associate degree programs, there are 6941 programs in 244 types, and agencies can accredit 83 of these programs.
ILAD has accredited programs from 31 universities.
The total number of accreditations by ILAD is 77 programs:
Out of these, 47 have the TYÇ logo. Programs from 31 universities have received accreditation from ILAD.
YÖK President Prof. Dr. Kocabıçak stated that having an accredited program is a requirement set by YÖK for universities to open doctoral programs. He reminded that YÖK would also impose accreditation conditions for universities to establish new faculties, vocational schools, institutes, research and application centers.
The Communication Faculties Deans Council (ILDEK) convened this year at Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University. Following the remarks of BAİBÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alişarlı and Communication Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Emre Tandırlı, YÖKAK President Kocabıçak addressed the importance of developments in artificial intelligence and emphasized the need to prioritize the use and education of artificial intelligence in education.
ILAD President Prof. Dr. Aysel Aziz and ILAD Vice President Prof. Dr. Jale Sarmaşık conducted an institutional information workshop for the deans.
